Los Angeles County has a child poverty rate of 23%.
The effects of poverty on children are devastating. Children who live in poverty are more likely to experience behavioral and social-emotional challenges. Poverty also reduces educational opportunities, undermining a child's capacity to learn and graduate from high school.
